You’ve finish revisions. The prose has been polished and the typos corrected. Beta readers say it’s “good.”
Yet something still feels off.
The pacing drags in places you can’t quite identify. Characters behave correctly in each scene but feel inconsistent across the whole. Emotional peaks land softer than they should. The manuscript reads clean, but not compelling.
Most authors interrogate the grammar. But line-level polish is seldom the culprit. Nor is it developmental structure in the obvious sense.
