The Dark Night of Late Night

It’s the final day of the Nethereal 10th Anniversary Campaign! We’re within arm’s reach of our $10K Stretch Goal: Vaun interior art. The signed and numbered Nethereal deluxe edition and the Kickstarter-exclusive Kairosis novella will never be offered elsewhere. So don’t wait. Back the project now!

Last night, the good folks at Black Lodge Games gave a generous shoutout to the Nethereal 10th Anniversary Campaign during their stream on the death knell of late night television.

They’re right to frame Colbert’s cancellation not as a blip, but as a falling domino.

It’s impossible for Zoomers and Alphas to comprehend, but once upon a time, Johnny Carson was a household name.

Today, most Americans under fifty couldn’t even tell you which network hosts The Late Show.

Legacy entertainment—especially the Boomer-targeted brands of broadcast comedy—is collapsing under the weight of its irrelevance. The demographic that tuned in every night is disappearing, and nobody is taking their place.

That’s not a cause for lament, it’s cultural closure. The mass media outlets controlled by the old gatekeepers are winding down at last.

And we’re not here to succeed them.

We’re here to replace them with far better systems and material.

Black Lodge Games understands this reality, which is why I’m grateful they took the time to highlight Nethereal last night.

The results speak for themselves: we surged past $8,000 in funding, unlocking our first Stretch Goal: a an interior illustration of the Soul Cycle’s favorite hired gun Teg Cross.

But we’re not done. Not quite yet.

With just one day left, our next Stretch Goal is within striking distance. At $10,000, backers will unlock a full-page illustration of Vaun Mordechai, the necromancer who defined the Soul Cycle’s concept villainy.

If you’ve read the series, you know that Vaun is the whispering face of the dark. His image belongs in the definitive edition of Nethereal. But his pale visage will only be enshrined in its pages if we hit that mark by 9:00 Central tonight.

If you’ve been watching from the sidelines, now is the time. This is your last chance to claim:

  • The deluxe hardcover edition of Nethereal, signed and numbered

  • The limited-edition Kairosis novella, exclusive to Kickstarter

  • Your chance to be part of a work the dying entertainment-industrial complex can’t touch.

No reprints. No second runs.

Just one shot to help lay the foundation for what’s next.

Take a lesson from Stephen Colbert: Don’t let time pass you by.
