For more than a century, Hollywood held pride of place in entertainment. If you wanted to make movies, you went to Tinseltown. That was the place to find talent, financing, and distribution. The whole industry revolved around Southern California.
That arrangement has been slowly changing. But now everyone is starting to notice.
Recent reporting and commentary have called attention to a growing trend. Productions that once would have been filmed in Los Angeles without question are increasingly heading elsewhere. Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Georgia, and Eastern Europe now compete aggressively for movie projects.
