Kickstarter Update and a Heads Up for Mastercard Users

Dear valued readers and backers,

As we enter the final crucial week of the Nethereal 10th Anniversary Edition Kickstarter campaign, I want to share some important information with you; especially if you’re planning to back the project or have already tried to pledge.

The Mastercard Payment Issue

A number of backers using Mastercard have told me their pledges didn’t go through; sometimes without any error message or email. In most cases, the bank showed no problem on their end, and the same cards worked fine elsewhere. While I’ve reached out to support, we are currently awaiting a clear solution.

And considering that Mastercard accounts for roughly a third of credit card transactions in the US, the effect of this issue is likely significant.

What’s Been Done So Far

Over the past three weeks, I’ve worked tirelessly with affected backers, as well as platofrm, payment processor, credit card company, and bank support to diagnose the issue. We can confirm that affected backers’ cards worked fine for other purchases; some made immediately before and after their pledges were declined.

Still, this situation has been frustrating for everyone involved, especially the backers who just want to support the project and get their rewards. And I’m committed to helping them.

What You Can Do

If you backed the campaign with Mastercard, please double-check that your pledge is confirmed in your Kickstarter account. If it didn’t process, you may want to try pledging again with a different card, like Visa, which seems to work more reliably.

Why It Matters

We’re down to the final 7 days of the campaign. Every pledge counts, not just toward reaching stretch goals, but to help cover production costs and bring you the best possible edition of Nethereal.

I’m grateful for the support of every backer, and I want to make sure no one who intended to back this project gets left out because of technical glitches beyond our control.

Running an independent publishing campaign is never easy, and issues like this remind me how important your support is; both financially, and morally.
