The Audience Is Not Your Enemy
Every struggling creator who asks social media why he’s not rolling in money and accolades gets the same litany of answers:
Readers don’t buy books anymore. Audiences have no attention spans. The algos bury anything remotely original.
The consensus is that most people would rather scroll through thirty-second videos than spend money on worthwhile entertainment.
That’s an attractive theory. Because it explains disappointing results while laying responsibility elsewhere.
It’s also contradicted every hour of every day.
